The significance of integrative medicine for the future of medical education

Am J Med, 2000, 108 (5), 441-443

To increase the internal medicine community’s understanding of the future trends in American medicine, the Association of Professors of Medicine (APM) has commissioned several articles about new practice and educational styles. For example, the association last year published two views of “hospitalists,” which focused on the education of these physicians and their impact on academic health centers. This month, Andrew Weil, MD, discusses the role of integrative medicine in the educational setting as well as the clinical environment.
